Henry Ing, along with Drs. Kurt Beschorner and Tevis Jacobs, won the 2025 Best Paper Award from the ASME Journal of Tribology for validating a model, developed as part of Ing’s master’s thesis, that predicts shoe-floor friction on oily surfaces. Tested across three shoe types and ten tile surfaces, the model gives footwear and flooring manufacturers a more reliable way to design for traction and helps workplaces cut down on slip-and-fall injuries.
