People with vestibular disorders have poor walking balance and high fall risk. The vestibular system, located in the inner ear, detects how the head is moving in space and is a critical contributor to balance. This NIH F31-funded project uses experimental and computational techniques to study deficits in the biomechanical strategies people with vestibular disorders use to maintain their walking balance in order to identify effective rehabilitation efforts.
